Two Door Garage Wins Week 7 Acoustic Live

Two Dog Garage moved into the finals after scoring a victory in the Week 7 Preliminary Round of Acoustic Live 2003, at The Westwood Brewery Company. The next step is performing in The Finals along with the winners of the preceding six weeks Grant Langston, Raining Jane, Nimbus, Jim Bianco, Brian Joseph, and Gabriel Mann. The band gained points with their original song writing, and two acoustic guitars and a bass were used producing a soft mellow rock sound with a touch of modern country with the lead singer having a strong voice and the ability and character to pull it off. Two Dog Garage creates meaningful lyrics about personal situations. The audience and judges got what they wanted from Two Door Garage, excellent song writing. They dealt with complicated situations, including tragic situations such as getting out of a bad relationship, or "getting out of a bad place," along with songs about getting drunk and losing the girl.

Curtis Murphy, recent graduates of Berklee School of Music in Boston, opened up the show with their unplugged soft rock country blend which started the night out with the right chemistry. The band is in the process of moving headquarters to Los Angeles with it being a homecoming for two of the members returning home from school and relocation for the drummer. This band gets its namesake after its front man Curtis Murphy who also plays guitar. The drummer Jeremy Shanok, AKA The Kid, by his band mates, drove all the way from Boston to be able to perform at Acoustic Live, and he will soon relocate out here. He incorporated a Caribbean drum beat as part of their acoustic set. Chen Veeman rounded out their sound on his bass. Future plans for Curtis Murphy include a CD, scheduled to come out in 2004.

4 Side Letter performed next with a soft rock with some mellow sounds similar to Jimmy Eat World. They have a tight CD with an upbeat feel to it and music similar to Blink 182, Eve 6, and The Goo Goo Dolls, and they usually use one word sometimes two to name their songs with uplifting titles such as "High," "Sparkle," "The Reaching," "Compliment," and "California." Four Side Letter's members are Ken, lead vocals, guitar, DK on backing vocals, Jay, plays lead guitar, Dean is on bass, and Mike rounds out the group on drums. Since there were limitations on the number of instruments that they could bring; this band used creativity such as tapping against other instrument beside the drum. 4 Side Letter just got back from the Boston/New York area and are planning to tour to Arizona next.

Jud Duncan performed solo with his strong presence but soft, crystal clear voice. He performed most of the songs on guitar, but he also used a djembe drum to play on. Jud has a self-promoted solo CD that is original in not only the content, but the hand painted brown wrapper tied with string with a matching sticker inside and some of his poetry. He knows how to create music that will make you relax. His CD is great for when you're just chilling, trying to create a relaxed mood, and it even has songs for mediation and yoga class. It can be taken to work for a release the distress session after your boss yells at you for screwing up once again. The song "India" on his CD has a nice eastern melody, and "Miss You" expresses deep emotions over losing someone you love with lyrics such as "I miss you... If it's so wrong, why does it feel so right tonight." Jud Duncan describes his music "as a combination of Peter Gabriel, Sting, and Jeff Buckley." Jud just returned from a solo tri-state tour in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico in which he had the fun-filled adventure of camping out with no hotel bills. Jud's currently working on a second CD with his band.

Two Dog Garage played after Jud Duncan, before Jeddrah, which made her the final performer since the final scheduled performer broke her arm. Jeddrah performed solo, and she brought both her guitar and keyboards along. She opened with "Long Past Gone" about a person that disappeared that you can't bring back, and she also debuted her new song "Inside My Soul" with the lyrics "You're inside my head, you're inside my soul. She told us about her fat cat syndrome to make us laugh, but she's so modest that she failed to mention to her e-mail list the little detail about being voted by the Midwest Entertainment Conference the most hardest working band in America. When Jeddrah isn't unplugged and solo, she's joined by band members Brian San Marco (AKA Frankie Al Dende) on bass, brothers Jonathan Mitchell (AKA Jonnie Boots) on drums, and Kenny Mitchell (AKA Hen) on guitar. Jeddrah has two upcoming videos about to be released, along with her hit song "Maybe" not only making the cut on The Wheat From Chaff 2003 CD, but it's also being played in 20,000 movie theaters nationwide through Movie tunes. Jeddrah's music is also featured in the Cambodian feature film "Lovesick. "Her Midnight Madness Midwest Mini Tour Part II also starts this month, and a second CD for Jeddrah is in the works.
